Welcome Trace!

Our baby boy is FINALLY here! Trace blessed us with his presence on July 1, 2008 at 5:17am. He weighed 7lbs 4oz and was 20.5 inches. Much smaller than we expected, but let me tell you, I could notbe happier that he was the size he was! :) It has been a LONG few weeks for us and we are finally happy to be able to get some kind of routine started. For those who did not know how things went I will give a short run down of what we have been up to.

We went in for our routine weekly check up on June 26th only to find that my blood pressure was very elevated 160/100. Our doctor then sent us to Labor and Delivery to get things checked out. We went there and spent about 6 hours in triage and my blood pressure came down but then decided that they wanted to induce me anyways on Friday evening. We were so excited at the thought that we were going to have this little baby possibly Friday night! OUr excitement was followed with disappointment when 3pm Friday came and they called and told us not to come in because they were booked! Needless to say we were reallly disappointed! They told us we were on call until the hospital was not full.

On Sunday at 2pm we got the call! We were thrilled and packed everything up and headed to the hospital. We did a series of cervical creams and dilated from a 1 to a 3 and started having contractions 4 minutes apart...then they sent us home at 2am! We were so upset!!! They instructed us to go to the doctor in the morning to check my blood pressure and see what they said about another induction. My blood pressure was back to normal and they told me to go home and wait it out. I was so upset that I went home to pout!! As i was sitting on the couch pouting, i decided to go upset stairs and take a nap. When I stood up I felt a pop and a gush of fluid left my body!! My water broke! We then franticly got our bags in the car, gave the dogs a kiss, and drove to the hospital. Contractions started in strong and I was so ready for an epidural by the time we got to Chandler Regional. They put me in triage and I was NOT HAPPY! After I screamed and tore off my monitors in pain, they decided to give me a room :)

Within 10 minutes of being in the LDR I had my IV and epidural in. Fortunately for everyone (other than Matt) they didnt have to be around me when I was in pain and losing it and they got there right after I got the epidural. The night seemed extremely long but we were lucky enough to have several of our friends and family come help us pass the time and it made things a lot more fun. Our room was the party room! After everyone left, around 12:30am, the doctor came in and told us that the baby was not taking well to the pitocin and they were going to do one more round and if it didnt work, they were going to have to do an emergency c-section. This was so upsetting and i prayed that it worked and the baby was ok AND it did! I dilated from 5 to 7 and then 7 to 9 and at 3:30am I was a 10! I got my second wind and was ready to start pushing at ten until 4am. It was difficult but when he came out it was all worth it! He popped out at 5:17am and our life was forever changed! He is beautiful and we could not be happier!

We have been so busy with our little bundle of joy that we havent been able to post any pictures or update our blog. I guess I could do it when I am up all night, but then again I had a few minutes now. We hope that everyone gets a chance to meet our little miracle soon. He is amazing and doing very well. We went to our doctor today for another weight check. He loves to eat and it was proven today when we found that he had gain a pound in less than a week. He is now 7lbs 8oz! He is growing up so quickly :) !

Below are some pictures that I was able to post. We have more and I will get them up soon. We have our newborn photo session tomorrow and cant wait to show everyone those photos!
